I saw an old MASH show in which a N. Korean was killed as he was taking the boots of what he thought was a dead soldier. The Korean's feet was frostbitten and he was shot by his own weapon.
So I ask, What is a man's life worth? A Pair of boots or because my God beats you God or because you walk upon my land.

i dont imagine that situation had anything to do with the boots,,, or the land, or even God..... someone who has been threw war most likely will react without thinking, towards the perceived enemy,,,, you didnt say who shot the Korean,, the injured soldier? and what was the captured soldier doing still having his own weapon? i guess in this scenario,,, the hospital didnt value either soldiers life, otherwise they wouldnt of ever been let near each other!
ps: i didnt mean those who have been threw war go around shooting people, i meant an injured soldier who sees the enemy taking off his boots, wouldnt stop to access the situation,,

A mans life is measured in the breadth of knowledge that he will pass on to future generations.
If a man teaches nobody what he has learned, then the sum of his life was worthless because it did no good for humanity.
If a man writes a worthwhile book, or teaches for a living, then you could say his worth is passed on, and henceforth, is very valuable to mankind.
If a man raises a family, and works a jo hard, then retires. He puts his kids through college, and passes on the life's lessons he's learned to his children, then his worth is only intrinsic at the family level and doesn't do much to serve humanity as a whole.

Any man's life is worth more than a pair of boots. Sheesh people!
However, one man's life may be worth another man's life. What would this thought lead to though?! hmmm...
Good luck with this question.

Unfortunately, each person is worth only the amount the person who has control over his/her life or death has given: sometimes that value is a pair of boots.

a mans worth, well humanities altogether worth is where it sits on the food chain. since our only natural predator is our fellow man maybe the premise of the question should be changed. What are you willing to die for? Kill for?

You cannot put a price on a man's life. We truely have no purpose, I believe we are just bodies, complete with senses. We aren't neccesarily "worth" anything.

I'd kill someone for looking at me in the wrong way, if I could.
Some people can get millions together to satisfy a ransom.
Others-- pff, when you call their 'loved ones' they laugh.
