which is more popular around the world?
if i had to choose i would say Field Hockey.. someone was saying there are 69 countries that play field hockey.

You need to define popularity. If you are going by number of nations who play, then most likely field hockey. If you are going by number of players worldwide, then probably field hockey as well. If you are going by television ratings, then probably Ice Hockey.
Finally, if you say Hockey outside North America, it means FIELD hockey not ice hockey. I was on a field hockey tour in the Caribbean and we were trying to find out the NHL playoff scores (pre-internet) and confused everyone by asking for hockey scores (we got them, the local field hockey league scores).

Ice hockey is definately more popular than field hockey. At least in Canada anyways, but that's understandable, haha. But it is probably more popular than field hockey in North America for sure. Field hockey isn't really even on TV. I try to get people to respect field hockey more other than ice hockey all the time, but most that don't play it like ice hockey better. I personally love field hockey, it's my favorite sport. =]

So what? Is the # of countries = popularity. And who cares? Soccer is the most popular sport in the world and it's bloody dull beyond belief unless you enjoy 0-0 draws played in mud by guys who can't shoot.
Hell, Spielberg movies are popular and they are filled with sappy, sentimental chaarcters and stories that have gigantic plot holes.
Popularity is the death knell of anything.
Anyhoo, a better question is why would anyone watch field hockey when they can watch hockey (no ice...it's not called the National Ice Hockey League, eh, and I could give a flyin' fig about the IIHF and its bogus giant ice rinks and soccer on ice sport in Europe)?

Probably field. There are a lot more fields than ice arenas in the world.

dude ice hockey all the way i think its much better... i play all types but the best is ice...trust me!
