Usually for print advertising, Adobe Creative Suite which includes Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop and for motion-television Adobe Production Studio, Final Cut Pro, Avid, Cumbustion, 3D Studio, Maya etc...these are all professional softwares used for serious production..

Usually layout programs, such as Quark Xpress or InDesign for print ads. Image work and any graphics that are to be placed within the ad are done in Photoshop or Illustrator.

The actual layout, prepared for a commercial printer or a magazine ad dept, are prepared using the first two programs I mentioned. --USUALLY.

It is preferr to use Corell Draw. You can put whichever size of media or go to specific like newspaper, magazines etc. You can also add postcard size, and you can export the file in whatever extension is need it for printing process.
