Michael Richards stunned a comedy club audience, shouting racial epithets at people who heckled him during a stand-up routine.
The 57-year-old actor-comedian, best known for playing Jerry Seinfeld's eccentric neighbor Kramer on the hit TV show "Seinfeld," was performing at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood Friday night when he went into the verbal rampage.
A video that bleeps out some obscenities posted on TMZ.com shows that the tirade apparently began after two black audience members started shouting at him that he wasn't funny.
He then paced across the stage taunting the men for interrupting his show, peppering his speech with racial slurs and profanities.
While there is some chuckling in the audience throughout the outburst, someone can be heard gasping "Oh my God" and various people "ooh" after Richards uses the n-word.

In response to some hecklers, he went on a racist rant using the "n" word among other things at a comedy club called the Laugh Factory. The original footage of the rant is here:

He then appeared on the David Letterman show where Seinfeld was a guest and apologized:

He was doing a standup comedy in a club, which was full of black people and he made remarks about them.It told on the news some of the remarks he made, they were not funny at all. Most of the people got up and walked out. Owner of the club is going to try to return the moneys back to the people in the audiance. He just made a fool of himself. He used the" n "word quite a bit. He is barred from that club now.

He was being heckled by some people in the audience and instead of making a joke about it and letting the audience laugh it off he overreacted to the situation and said some racist things to them. He did apologize, but I think he made it worse by doing that. He's a comedian, he should know how to deflect any situation with humor. I guess he's having some problems.

Started using the n- word during his stand up comedy act, it got really out of control. He apologized for it but i just know its gonna cause a lot of trouble for him. And I'm sure its not gonna matter what any one from the audience said.

He was doing a stand-up comedy act and a few African American guys in the audience started heckling him (saying that he wasn't funny), so he shot back at them with some bad racial slurs ("n" word, etc.)
