It is a skill and skills can be acquired through practise. Keep trying to sketch until you acquire the talent.

Buy this book called "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain". I promise you, this is where to start, regardless of your current skill level. Once you've completed all of the exercises in that book, enroll in a Figure Drawing class at your local community college, art school, or rec center.

Doing these two things will give you a solid foundation on how to draw things realistically. Even if you want to doodle nonsensical things, being able to draw realistically will improve your doodles. Plus, it's fun!! Go draw!!

Head over to amazon and pick up a book called 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain'. Trust me.

i don't think you can learn to sketch if you don't already have some natural ability. you can practice and get better than you are.
