They sell Christmas lights that are cool to the touch, so I would use those if you're going to let her touch them while you're around. You can use really light-weight plastic, rubber, or wooden ornaments toward the bottom. Or, you could just put up a regular tree like you normally would, but maybe put a gate around it or something so she can't get to it, and get her her own tree! You can get a synthetic, like, 2 foot tall tree that comes lighted and just get ornaments that she can pull off and play with. Good luck!

First properly secure the tree so it won't be pulled down. You should also put on "led"Christmas lights. These burn cooler. Next you should make the ornaments out of construction paper, like snowmen, stars and snowflakes. Make the old fashioned paper chain link garland. If you have older children, or a niece or nephew, you could get them to help. These are just a few ideas. Just make sure nothing is breakable. You might want to see what this web site has to offer.

It's hard to have a Christmas tree around toddlers - my parents used to either tie the tree to the drapery rods or put the tree in the playpen.
Definately anchor the tree securely or limit the time the baby spends in that room. No glass bulbs or ornaments of course. Put ornaments that you are very fond of up higher than she can reach.

When my kids were little I put ornaments from kids shows and movies but they were older then 14 months. I think any lights will capture her attention. Make sure you use non breakable ornaments for the next year or 2 though.

Lots of colorful and twinkling lights - as for the ornaments, place the bulbs and dangerous items up out of reach, and on the lower branches put items that are child friendly. Maybe some of her light weight toys.

You'll need soft and/or chew resistant plastic or wooden ornaments, like those mentioned earlier. BUT be sure to anchor the tree so she can't knock it over. And I'd string the lights out of her reach entirely. You don't want her pulling the bulbs out and eating them!

Put the more fragile ornaments up top and the ones you arent so worried about and that dont pose a choking hazard toward the bottom. Also when she tries to touch it remind her to look and not touch. It seemed to work with my now two year old last year.

You will want to secure your tree somehow. If you have it near a window you might use fishing wire to tie it to the window somehow.

Those little ones can pull things down on themselves in a heartbeat.
