Every baby is different in their growing, but if she is able to sit up, you don't have to burp her. There is still a comfort level in holding her and rubbing her back after she has eaten. You can keep doing that as long as you and she want! As for how much she should drinking. Let her tell you. If she is still hungry feed her more. If she pushes the bottle away, don't force her. If she is wanting to eat sooner than every 2-4 hours talk to your doctor about starting her on cereals. Every doctor has a different theory on when to start the solid foods. The best way to know if she is getting enough or too much is by weighing her and making sure that she is on target for growth.

The normal age where you no longer have to burp a baby after they eat is 6mths, or so I've read. My girl was able to burp on her own before that though... you might be able to stop burping your 5mth old if you notice her able to burp without your help. As for amt of formula, I'm not sure as I breastfed my daughter... but dont try pushing more than she is willing to take at a time, and no more than 32oz I THINK is the limit for a day. Every baby is diff (dont you hear that 20 times a day? but it's true) so if she is gaining weight steadily but not too fast then no worries!! Lots of weight curves out there to let you know where you daughter falls in the curve if you dont already have one from your pediatrician. Check the CDC's site below for the chart we use.

Every baby is different. I would say if you're not having trouble with spitting up or bad gas then you are doing ok. They make formula's specially for that and from my own experience with my nephew, Enfamil's special formula worked the best for that (it's in the bright orange can). I personally burped until they were able to sit up on their own. Leg movement exercises while they lay on their backs works wonders on pushing gas out as well. Baby likes it and it's a good way to coo and play with baby and make sounds and sing. My 5 month old daughter was drinking about 4-6 oz every 3-4 hours. She was perfectly healthy and had her normal baby rolls. She also started eating food at 7 months. To each his/her own. You know your baby best and intuition is key along with some guidence from your baby's pediatrician. Take Care!

Usually you can burp babies less (or not at all) once they start sitting more upright. When they are primarily in a lay down type of position the gas bubbles have little options of where to go, but once they begin to be more upright the gas bubbles have a more clear and easy path. I think a 5 month old should eat 4-6 ounces at a time, depending on how long she is going in between feedings. God bless!

About 4 months old to not have to burp and about 4 to 6 oz oz of formula.

most stop between 4 an 9 months but if she is having a lot of gas, spitting up often, or being fussy after a feeding then you prolly need to keep burping her. and she should be eatting between 4 or 5 oz depending on her weight. I hope this helps you out

Usually after your baby can sit up well by himself than they shouldn't need to be burped, but you might still see some spit up if they do get an air bubble in their tummy. Watch for problems, but other wise you should be fine. I would also say probably 4-6 ozs at a time. I breastfed my child, but I did give a bottle after 6 mohts. Good luck.

My son is 5 months to and I stopped burping him at 4 months and he is fine. I feed my son half of baby food and then 4 oz of formula. But also it depends on the baby. Sometimes my son only wants 4 oz of formula. Believe me my son is very healthy he weighs 19 lbs.

well if your baby burps on his own with out burping id say your good to stop but just give him time to burp good before laying him down for naps. and the formula thing really depends on your baby how much he normally eats but if your on wic they will probly say that if your baby eats 6 ounces and is still hungry to start on baby cereal and that might be a good idea to start because you baby is almost 6 mnths and thats usually when most start on baby cereal and 1st baby foods
