I saw the whole news segment about "kramer" (whats his name) losing it and calling people the n-word. What really bugged me about it was the interview of the latino comedian afterwords. He said "if you aren't african-american and you use the N-word you have some explaining to do." My question is, why is that swear word ok for anyone to use? Why does it make a difference what color you are? A cuss word is a cuss word. Escpecially when the word has so many hateful connotations that go along with it. Should it be ok for women to say cu** just because they have it? Now I'm not some puritanical person that never swears, I think just because your Black doesn't make it ok to use a racial slur. My dad is Mexican my mom is White, but I don't throw around beaner or cracker just becuase. I think that actor should be slammed for using those words and we shouldn't segregate our swear words.

I wonder how the N-word come about, Is it an American Indian, word. Is it a Spanish word, Is is a Dutch word, Or an English word, Or is it a French word. How many people know how the N-word came into existence. If it is a derogatory then no one should be using that word even Black people when they are considered to be making fun of the N-word.. But is it a word to describe where a Black man came from Like Niger, or the Niger region of Africa. Did the N-word started with slave holders. Or was it just some European slave trader trying to pronouns a foreign word. Who decided that the N-word was negative. I believe it had to be the slave master and not the slaves. Everyone should know that the N-word and the the word *****, are foreign word not created in America. We know that Webster was an avowed racist with a bad case of a inferiority Complex. He is the one wrote the American Dictionary. Was he the one that decided that the N-word was negative. One or a group of people had to decide that the N-word was negative And it had to be a white person or a group of White people that did it. Was it a religious group of White people. For I really believe that the N_word is taken a little to serious by all humans. My question is who or what is keeping the N-word in existence and in continual use.......... Who, or what is responsible for that. There are many english words that are no longer used, Why? is the N-word not one of them............................

In many minorites they take words that are offensive if outsiders say it and make it their own. they try to make it positive or prove a point. I.E. Carlos Mencia is always talking about wetbacks and beaners. But i wounldnt dare go to him and call him that. As african-americans or blacks, we dont have much of our own. Many of us cannot draw our family tree much farther than 3 to 4 generations back. We have nothing of our own so to some this word is something that we have changed to our benefit and have for once excluded white from using. Also not all people say ni-ga. I dont, so if someone starts yelling at someone and call him a ***-ger heck yeah i will be offended. It is not the thing about whites can't make jokes about blacks, because i have heard some white comedians make awesome jokes about blacks and i have laughed. But he wasnt making a joke! he was intentionally trying to be cruel! Not only did he call him a ******, he made a huge reference to lynching! Some may say that "well you if black people use cracker no one says anything, and if white people say ***** oh no!" You know if anyone calls anyone out of their name and they dont like you have the right to raise hell. But obvisiouly black people are the minority and white people are the majority right? So if that word "cracker" was so offensive, if it made them cringe to the bone when they hear it, why wouldnt they make a fuss about it? If the word ni-ga and cracker held the same weight, trust and believe that white people could do something about it. But in history a cracker was a refernce to a white slave driver, who whipped his slaves, abused slaves, maybe even raped them. A ****** was someone who couldnt read, write, was 1/8th of a man, not equal to any of the animals on the farm. Now you may think that i am being one-sided, but look up history. Read books about black people and black authors. Then you could truly understand the plight that black people go through and why to some ni-ga is a word that is empowering.

Exactly, but I guess what the Latino comedian (Paul Rodriguez) meant was if he was African American no one would care but he is not and there's going to be hell to pay he had the oportunity to apologized the next day and didn't do it and now is too late he waited 2 days to do so but Ialso think is important to realized that he was racially attacked too. It's wrong all the way around it no one is right.

Michael Richards has made an awful mistake and he is not doing the best job of recovering from it.

He should have allowed his public relations people handle it instead of going on David Letterman's show to explain it away. I think he made matters worse.

Insensitivity is the issue at hand, "racial" or "social", however you want to categorize it. He's wrong.
