An iPod IS an MP3 player. It's a really good one, too. With lots of other functions including video and software to make it easy to get lots of content free/cheap. There is a lot of competition, though.
One of the reasone that so many people like the iPod is because there are so many accessories like cases, speakers, car adaptors, etc.
If you can afford an iPod, go for it! If not, then shop around for a cheaper MP3 player.

mp3 players play music .. while on iPOD u can play music movies view pics save ur notes play games and so many other things .. its the best thing ever

An I pod is also an mp3 player....ther is basically no difference

None. They are the same thing. ipod is a brand name for Apple.
If you are thinking about getting one...waste no time or money, go buy an ipod. This thing is the best invention since sliced bread.
