I had all four major carriers! This is what I think from each of them:
Sprint - has good service, but their Representatives lack of intelligence. They will transfer you from dept to dept. especially those call centers at the middle east!
Verizon - FANTASTIC SERVICE! but they are very pricey! If their is an error on the bill, they will not credit you back! This happened to me more then 4 times!
Cingular - They say their raising the bar, but they aren't! You lose service even going in a house! And they will over charge you.
T-Mobile - Best customer service in the nation; good reception depending where you live; they recently exceeded Sprint, so they are the 3rd largest in the nation; they are still expanding by 2007 they will be exceeding Verizon Wireless; Best minutes gives you unlimited text messages for self $15 and for the whole family $20
The beniefts of being with T-Mobile as that you can switch phones whenever you want without paying an activation fee. Just switch SIM cards to another, for example if you have a Motorola V360 and you want to change to a razar phone, just take out the SIM card from the V360 to the razar! and your number goes with you and also your contacts (but needs to be save on the SIM card)
====
I totally recommend T-Mobile, they have the best customers service and best service plans! T-Mobile provides a service called "myfaves" which is really neat. Go on their website and explore the many services they provide! And make sure they have towers near you, you can find out by going on there website! You will enjoy their services like I am! BEST COMPANY I HAVE EVER HAD!!! They really treat you like a customer!

If i were you i def look in to the charges they your cellone might have if to cancel before your contact is up and i would also look in to all the cell compines depending on were you live might depend of the one yo choose as for me i have sprint works great at my moms but sucks in the mountains but all cell compians suck in the mountians so i guess it all depends on what you are looking for and where you live i do have to say that sprit has some good deals and you can upgrade your phone every 18 months with them so you can always have ne technology .
hope this helps you

Before you do check to see if you have an early cancellation charge. You should do some research and find which one YOU prefer as what works for one may not work for another. I use alltel and have been happy with them.

I have Verizon which is o.k., have had a couple of issues with their phones but once my contract is up in May I will either stay with them or go with T-mobile who I really wants.

properly sprint and verzion have the quickest community for internet surfing , Tmobile and Att look to have quite greater valuable coverage in greater places which incorporates out of united states of america. Me for my area i could suguest sprint simply by fact they have the main inexpensive plans available for what you get with them.
