Being realistic about what upsets and shakes you is essential, otherwise you'll never confront and deal with those problems. But once you've dealt with these issues, and learned a positive lesson from them, move forward. Don't let things eat you up - accept them, but accept that you're still who you are, and that life has its downs as well as its ups. Stay centred, and be positive about who you are, as well as able to see your own weaknesses and work on them. If your view of yourself and the world around you is realistic, you're less likely to have emotional problems when your beliefs are shown to be wrong. Admit that you're human, and try to be the best you that you can be, but don't punish yourself unduly when you make mistakes. That's how we learn. Being strong isn't being impervious. Trying to be impervious is actually the opposite - building up walls and trying to shield yourself from reality makes you brittle and unable to cope. Accepting life for what it is, being true to yourself, and being willing to learn are the best ways to be emotionally strong. It's not what happens to us that makes us weak or strong, it's how we deal with these events.

Animal Behaviour Consultant-emotionally strong
Dogs see us as pack members. Whether they see us as littermates, subservient members or as pack leader depends on how we behave towards them. In a wolf pack the leader is not necessarily the most aggressive or largest member, but is mentally and emotionally strong, ruling by making decisions and having a strong character, not by being a bully.
So Why Be Dominant Over Your Dog?
From the owner's point of view being dominant is an advantage because you can have control over your dog's behaviour, preventing problems such as over-protectiveness, inter-dog aggression (if they know who's pack leader then there's no reason to fight for this status) and a host of other unacceptable behaviours. From the dog's point of view it is advantageous because he/she feels more secure knowing that the huge responsibility of being pack leader is with the owner.

You have to just realize that you; you are gooing to be ok. Despite what life throws at you. Know that God does not put any burdens on you that you can not handle. If you lose it and break down who will take care of your famly? Who will be strong for them? People don't know that you aren't just out here alone you have others depending on you and you are depending on you. How will you ever stand for anything if you are not emotionally eqiupped for it? Though life is HARD and unfair you have to find the sliver lining in all that and find a way to live in this world regardless. Prayer is the key to it all. You know people's advice goes but so far then theres God. He'll see you through, I know he will.

On the stage when you are emotionally upset there are only two ways ahead
either you back out or get into a cocoon and mourn and regret
or
you step further and think about your happiness and don't let anything affect you at all.
And moreover being emotional only hurts. Never let someone know that they have the capability to hurt you.

One can be emotionally strong, if they understand the fact that nothing in life is permanent, be it joy or pain, good or bad. Time gives us the capability to overcome anything!

Regularly exercise your emotions and do not take emotional enhancement drugs. (A slight leaning toward levity).
EVERY person you ask that question will have their own concept of emotional strength, all the way from willing to show your emotions to never showing any (you know "grown men don't cry" stuff). When you are comfortable, content, even happy with the way you handle your emotions, you will be emotionally strong.
Even asking about it shows a level of strength others do not have.

I believe what is seen as emotional strength is really just adaptability. By being able to emotionally adapt to new situations in your life, you keep a sense of calm and cool about you which is interpreted by others as strength.
