Pretty much as gnasherr said; if they fund your education, they're going to want to get their money's worth back out of you. In the UK, it is normal to ask the prospective student to sign a three to five year contract that starts from the point of graduation, and if you quit before then, you owe them whatever they have stipulated in that contract, be it pro rata or the full amount. The employer may also want to have a hand in choosing which modules you study to best suit themselves.

They'll want to know how much it is going to cost, how much of your time it is going to take up, what benefits they are going to get out of it, how committed you are to the course, how committed you are to them, and how much profit this degree will earn them after fees and replacement staff expenses have been deducted.

That they won't immediately leave them to get a better job or go to the competition at the first chance. Most will want an agreement that if you choose to leave within a certain period after the course, you will repay some / all of the fees - after all they are sponsoring you to improve their resources not someone elses.

If I was the employer I would wish to know everything.
