Does the storyline of the anime Hack.Sign differ from the manga, as Hack/Legend of the Twilight does.?

In the anime both Hack.Sign and Hack/Legend of the Twilight players fall comatose and the dot-hackers must save them. In the manga Hack/Legend of the Twilight the dot-hackers protect a vagrant AI from a system administrator who wants to keep 'The World' free from virises, gliches, and cheaters.

.Hack//Sign is different from legend of the twillight. Its where new characters come and plays the game and it goes alone with the story if you read the story correctlly. Thats why the people who made .hack also created the game to go along the story. And if you read legend of the twillight they explain part of .hack//sign's characters too.
