I am happily married and I have a guy friend at work that is my mother's age that I have called pretty regularly. I don't think there's any reason to call every day, but he is one of my very good friends that I trust and can talk to about our job...basically vent. He is unmarried and doesn't really call me. I just call him to keep up with what's going on at work or go out to eat or something b/c my husband is away for a couple months at a time. It's nice to have someone that you can call and just BS with for a couple minutes.

It may not be normal to onlookers, but sometimes your spouse just doesnt get you and is uncapable of communicating in a stimulating way that a female friend can. I have found that my female friend will tell me things about myself that are negative but in a way that is more constructive criticism than the way my wife would tell me. Which helps me to understand my wifes point of view on many issues.

No, it's not normal. Calling a woman other than your wife on a regular basis is one thing, but doing that every day is something else altogether.

I'm still best friends with my ex-boyfriend, he's married now, and we talk almost every day. His wife knows and she doesn't mind. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is.
