how can rap be so popular when all these so called singers music lifespan is like 3 years at best. All that music is "here today, gone later today". how do these artists build fan loyalty? Is it by having their own MTV show and appearing on "cribs" 5 times and all that other wonderful pop culture crap?

Rap music is like any other kind of music; You have a handful of talented people out there making records at any given time and a whole lotta commercial crap rippin' it off. That is the way it is in any music form. If you are interested in rap, just dig around some, you'll find some interesting, original, and deep stuff out there. I have. I love rhythm and rhyme, spoken word poetry and clever takes on both old and modern issues and that is what good rap is all about.

I'M OFFENDED BY BOTH YOUR COMMENTS, 1ST OFF IT'S AN EXPRESSION LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE AND IF YOU AIN'T FROM A PLACE THAT THERE RAPPING ABOUT HOW COULD YOU UNDERSTAND. THEY BUILD FAN LOYALTY BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY TO THE PEOPLE THAT GO THREW THE SAME STRUGGLE, YOU IDIOT! ALSO YOU HAVE TO BE ASKED TO DO THOSE SHOWS, I BET YOU BE BAGGING IN THE CLUB WHEN A RAP SONG COMES ON, DON'T YOU. WHY DON'T YOU FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME THEN WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYWAY OR THEN AGAIN YOU PROBABLY DO CARE SINCE YOU PUT THE ENERGY IN ASKING THIS QUESTION.. SORRY A**

They are not "artists" and it's definitely not "music". It's just "ghetto expression" and it's totally horrible.
