There are many warriors who are my favourite. They are in a category by itself, they are all my favour. They all campaigned against injustice and social ills. They never carried arms. Yet they were also true worriers. I refuse to name one because I do not want the others left out.

My favourite (I should say first and most ancient per my limited knowledge)was the King Asoka(6000 B>C.) he caused lots of bloodshed, he had many conquest but after his biggest conquest he was taken aback by the pain an suffering that was brought up on the families of warriors on the both sides, he became angry at himself, took his sward and banged it, in to two on his thigh and took a oath not to bare arms ever again, he kept his promise and try to promote peace, amongst various factions and various kings.

Buddha was the other king who had similar revelation on life.

There are many such historical figures, that I would like to pay tribute to and take my hat off in this World Wide Forum.

GFM Helmuth von Moltke (the Elder)--an academic in soldier's clothing; made the unified armies of the German states the force they became in the last half of the 19th century.

GEN Creighton Abrams--commanded the cutting edge of Patton's 3rd Army in WWII; later brought the Army home and started the repair process after Viet Nam

Sturmbannfuhrer Michael Wittmann--greatest tank ace in history--period.

Master Sergeants Randall Shugart and Gary Gordon--dropped in to the mess at Mogadishu at its worst moments carried out acts greater than the most overblown fictional characters.

Alexander the Great.i wonder why no one has said this one yet.

Alexander the Great (Greek: Μέγας Ἀλέξανδρος,[1] Megas Alexandros; July 356 BC–June 11, 323 BC), also known as Alexander III, king of Macedon (336–323 BC), was one of the most successful military commanders in history, if not the most successful. Before his death, he conquered most of the world known to the ancient Greeks; he is regarded as one of the greatest military strategists and tacticians who ever lived.
