Try drinking some water, amazingly it might do the trick. If you arent a water person, try some natural fruit juices, like Juicy Juice or Welchs grape juice, both natural laxatives, feel better soon:-)

I don't know if it's normal but i had the same problem. When i first started taking my prenatal vitamins it was really bad. It eased off at about 20 weeks maybe a little later than that. My doctor told me it was because i quit smoking and drinking caffeniated pop. I do see how that would happen. I never took anything for it i just suffered through it and got used to going once every three days. You can drink apple juice or tomato juice and make sure that you are eating enough fiber .

Yup. Thank your prenatals for that >.<
You're constipated. The best thing to do is eat fruit or drink prune juice.
It's all that iron from the vitamins and the fact that you're now digesting slower (due to progesterone levels).

I liked this book much better than What to Expect When You're Expecting. It's called Your Pregnancy Week by Week:

I suffered BADLY with constipation in my early pregnancy. I had pains, and felt moody and restless.
Ask the doctor for some natural remedies, also he will be able to reassure you all is ok.
Also make sure you eat a couple of bits of fruit a day and drink plenty of water (8 small glasses min). This sorted me right out (I didn't like the stuff the doctor gave me.... it made me fart REALLY badly, but no poo!).

My wife is 7 month pregnant and suffered with this for the first 4 months, she was on iron tablets which where not helping because they can cause constipation .Get a load of fresh orange juice down you, i am sure it will help. Congratulations on the pregnancy.

I think the best thing to do is phone the midwife, she will put you straight, i must be honest and say i never had that, but then you might be constipated, its important you eat properly as the baby will take all the goodness and leave you with none! Making you fell a bit poorly!

oh yes! i had the same problem, i ended up sitting on the loo for over an hour, crying bacause the pressure was so painful. When it did eventually come the relief!!! try lactlose, it is ok for pregnant women and softens the stools. what u really need is some more fruit in your diet tho

Perfectly normal. I'm 22 weeks and I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms. The only thing I've gotten is a belly. I really haven't been more emotional, if anything I've been less emotional. No morning sickness, no stretch marks yet, and everything is just fine with the baby. All the tests have come back normal. Be thankful you haven't had to go through some of the things other women have to go through. I always thought their was something wrong because I didn't have any symptoms either, but now I'm very happy I didn't.

I had the same thing, it is normal. Once your uterus rises (in a few weeks), things will get better. For now, eat more fiber and avoid rice, bananas, apple sauce and white bread. If you really need to go you can try prune juice (it's gross, but it works). Try not to use laxatives as you can become dependent on them. I hope you feel better soon!
