Boston is pretty cold around that time, generally. It's always hard to predict, especially because last year we had a very mild winter. Odd are, it will be very cold with lots of wind and a chance of snow or sleet. If you're renting a car, be careful driving if you aren't used to the conditions. Walking you'll need to make sure you have hat/gloves/etc. because of the sharp winds. It's not really as miserable as people make it seem though- you must have an idea of what a New England winter is like.

Boston usually has cold winters. If you're going to do First Night around Boston, be prepared for COLD!!!! How cold? One year it was about 5 degrees. It can also be in the 40's.

This is typical of Boston weather....

First Night in Boston is always a blast!

Cold, Schmold! Plenty of places usually colder than Boston but in few places is weather so possibly changable. Take enough clothes to prepare for temperatures that might be zeroF to 65F, with storms that might be humongous blizzards or light snows to torrential rains to warm California type winter showers but most likely at New Year`s time storms changing from wind-driven snow to cold rain to warm rain with resultant slush and slop everywhere.

Most likely it will be very cold. I would suggest long sleeve shirts, some warm sweaters and a think winter coat. Some gloves, and maybe a hat.. if you can find sone that match good.

Layers are key. Long sleeve t-shirts under sweatshirts with a medium jacket. OR short-sleeved t's under a sweater. Stuff like that.
