Yeah but I think it would be cool to have a new national holiday called NO DRIVING DAY. One day per year no one could drive a motorized vehicle except for police, fire and ambulance.
If you had to get somewhere, you had to walk or ride a bike.
It would give perspective of how good we have it and what politicians/city planners have to deal with.

Not to me!
I make no apologies for being a Christmas fan and, in fact, I dare to say 'fanatic.' My birthday is on December 10 and I always consider myself a Christmas child.
I enjoy all the niceties - the cleaning, shopping, cooking, buying of gifts, the lights, decorations, everything. It warms my heart that people - even if it's just one day per year - get off the busy roads and stay at home with their families. Too many of them are everywhere else but at home all year through, and I am glad they find some time to be there at Christmas time.
So many times, I have seen movies in which children or spouses or girl- and boyfriends were longing, watching, hoping, praying that the objects of their affection would show up. So many times, all they got was a call or in other cases, nothing....
The empty highways are a good sign - at least for those people.

Yes, but it's probably because most people have already traveled to their destinations in the preceding days. By Christmas day, mostly people who have short trips are traveling, and they can avoid the interstate highways. Also, people would rather spend the time with their families, so if they have a long trip, they are probably flying before Christmas Day.

Yea, it does seem strange when we used to seeing a lot of cars. I know on Sunday morning where I live it similar. That the only day many people have to sleep in, about the only cars I see are those going to Church.

No, not eerie - peaceful. I'm thinking that all the holiday drinkers are at home sleeping it off instead of potentially "wrecking" the holiday for someone.

I know. Last year my mom took my grandma to midnight mass. I had to pick them up at church and it seemed like a ghost town.
