The conputer was off and I had to set it up again- so I plugged it into the wall and I think the sound was from a power surge? Does this mean my computer is no good?

If the pop came from the wall, then you probably just blew a fuse. Find the circuit breaker in your house and see if any of the switches are facing the wrong direction (i.e. 8 pointing right, 1 pointing left, the one pointing left is wrong.)

If the pop came from your computer, then at worst, you blew the Power Supply Unit, or PSU. If you open the side of your computer, it is the little box in the upper right-hand corner that has a fan on the outside(of the case) and a bunch of wires coming out of it on the inside. It may still be under warranty, so contact the company that makes it. It costs you at most 50 bucks for a new one, unless you have a really good computer. This happened to me just last week.

The good news is, if those guesses are right, that most likely all of your other parts are just fine.
