Most Dr.'s will tell you if you were exercising before you ere pregnant it is OK to continue.....If you did not exercise regularly before becoming pregnant I would stick with walking for now...Walking is actually just as good if not better for you than running or jogging....And NO you will not "mix or stir" the baby up...lol

I have read an article in "Shape" magazine about a lady who jogged almost the whole pregnancy except during the last crucial time. I would talk to your doctor and if you are already a person who is in shape and everything, there shouldn't be too much trouble. Maybe a fast paced walk would suit you and your doctor's orders better? Just ask your doctor and let him know that you are DYING to get some excercise!! Sometimes swimming is a better way to go, although it's coming winter and I don't know where you are but swimming indoors would probably be best depending on your weather. Also, they have pregnancy tapes that you can excercise too, depending on your physical needs. I am also 19 weeks 3days preggers (with twins... )

If you have been running/jogging all throughout your pregnancy, and even before, then you should be okay... my doctor told me this when it came to exercising and my job-lifting the stuff I had to.... now, I know during my pregnancy, there was a point during it, that I had to stop jogging because it just felt very weird, and not very comfortable. Walking is very good for you... so you can always do that- you can do a fast pace walk too-doensn't have to be very slow. Just be careful- I know someone I went to high school with who was pregnant, who had always ran a lot-marathons, and had a few miscarriages... and her last pregnancy had to be put on bed rest the entire time... so don't overdo it!

You do need exercise but it needs to be something with which your body is already experienced. Starting a new, strenuous exercise program now can lead to decreased placental blood flow, which in turn decreases oxygen to your baby. Long term, it can lead to fetal growth restriction. I would suggest something much less strenuous.
Instead of running try walking. Start out slow, walking short distances, then gradually increase, both distance and (to some extent) speed.
I think prenatal yoga is one of the best and safest exercises during pregnancy. Prenatal pilates is another option. Classes are wonderful and preferred, but you can also buy videos or DVDs.
What ever you do make sure you do not over exert yourself, and drink plenty of fluids so you don't get dehydrated. You should feel good when you are finished, not wiped out!

I was an avid exerciser when I got pregnant....I was also scared to death I would gain too much weight. My doctor said to continue doing whatever I was used to, but do not engage in "new" activity.... I continued to jog....and do the eliptical trainer and then eventually I could feel "pulling" and took to power walking instead....I noticed on the treadmill my stride would get slower and slower....by the time I was 8-9 months, I could only walk at 2.0 on the treadmill for 10 minutes at a time....the point is, you will know what you should be doing....your body (and baby) will tell you! However, ALWAYS discuss with your doctor! Congratualtions on your pregnancy!

Make sure you're not sleeping on your back, you're not meant to after 16 weeks because it can block blood flow to your heart and the baby. Try lying on your side with a pillow between you legs and knees, also, I find it helps to have a pillow under my little belly when I'm on my side. Is it a shooting sharp pain that goes away quickly? because if it stays and is constant throughout most the night there could be a problem and you should see your dr about it.

You can't do any exercising that you didn't do consistently before you got pregnant. Which means if ran two miles everyday and have been running everyday up until now it's fine but if not you can't just start running. call your Dr. he will tell you what would be acceptable.

My doctor just says if it feels uncomfortable then dont do it, but tells me to keep excersizing.. and don't stop just becuase your pregnant just don't go overboard. Always have the doctor monitor you though, go in for check ups.

It's not bad but I suggest that you walk instead of running it's easier to fall when you run instead of walking
