Shuttle is the name given to a spindle used in weaving, to get the weft thread between the warp. Since this spindle goes back and forth all the time, anything that does round trip started being called "shuttle" (bus, train, boat, whatever) by association.
When the time came to create a ship that was meant to go to space and come back, and be able to go up again later, and so on, well, it is acting like a "shuttle", hence the name.

shuttle has a few different meanings....... shuttle as in shuttle run means goin between a few different places repeatedly.... a shuttl (as in bus) means roughly the same thing, but rather than it being the different places that you go, it is the actual bus. A shuttle (as in space shuttle) is just a craft that goes to space and comes back!

It has many meanings, but in the space context it means,
"a public conveyance that travels back and forth at regular intervals over a particular route."
The space shuttle was intended to be such a system to and from orbit. Too bad it fell far short of being that.
