No, you don't have to buy music from Verizon. I just copy my music files onto a small flash drive and put it in my phone. Then I can play my songs that I did not buy from Verizon. I have a half-gig microSD flash drive for it. This smaller drive fits into a larger one that can plug directly on some computers, but my old laptop doesn't have it, so I got a USB adapter for it. It works great, the drive was inexpensive, and the phone really wasn't a bad price for what it does either.

I like the phone. I've never lost a call with Verizon, so that's a plus too. The phone is fun and looks cool. I like that I can play my own music on it.
