In my family, it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without a pecan pie (we're originally from Texas); there are recipes with and without bourbon online. Cherry pie, raisin pie, and coconut pie are also big favorites with the crowd. Of course, my extended family will eat just about anything sweet that isn't nailed down ;-)

Anything goes from apple to mince, from pecan to sweet potatoes, from key lime to strawberry. There are no rules when it comes to which pie is best for thanksgiving because not everyone likes pumpkin!

This is the best ever Apple pie.


3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
8 cups thinly sliced, pink lady apples (8 medium)

I have made this several times for friends and they love it!!!!!

P.S. Keep the skin on....it taste wonderful with it on.

Pecan pie with cranberry compote, a variation of sweet potatoe pie, mince meat is a favorite at Christmas but is becoming more common in earlier holidays.

Apple is another traditional pie. In the south sweet potato pie is a common pie.
