PS3 is manufactured by Asustek of Taiwan. X360 is manufactured by Winstron of Taiwan. PSP and Apple iPod are manufactured by Foxconn, subsidiary of Hon-Hai Precision of Taiwan. Many (or almost all Hi-Tech) Taiwanese companies have manufacturing plants in mainland China, despite of Taiwan the democratic country versus the red communist across the straight. Taiwanese citizens are not against the people across the straight, but are opposed communist government who self-claim Taiwan is theirs (China Ceded Taiwan over a century, and never had official status in Taiwan). China continue to oppress, harrass, and targets Taiwan with its military threats (including 900 missles, submarines...etc.). Despite the fact, due to historical cultural similarities, there still exist harmony to certain extend on individual and business basis.
Many people still does not know Taiwan, thinking "Made in Taiwan" stands for cheap and low quality...which was true a quarter of century to 30 years ago in the 70's. Taiwan's brands are not known except to the people in the Hi-Tech industry , as the country OEM and ODM (both Design & Manufacture...for example HP Computers....) for many other countries. It is a Hi-Tech Hub of the world. More than 80% of the world's Laptop, 30% of Desktop, 98% + of motherboards, 40%+ of world's LCD Screens/TVs (the other 40% is dominated by South Korea), are manufactured by Taiwanese companies (remenber plant itself may not located in Taiwan). Some of the world largest made-to-order Semiconductor Companies are Taiwanese-Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (TSMC-World Largest), and United Microelectronic Copr (UMC-World's 2nd Largest). Both company's chips are also used in Playstations and XBox etc...etc...
Knowing this, hopefully you can treat your Taiwanese Friends better!
