My boyfriend and I are in most respects very happy. However, he is quite big and penetration often hurts - especially at the beggining of sex, and just after. Sometimes I also bleed a little (vey little, just enough to get onto the condom, or toilet tissue afterwards.) Does anyone else have this problem? Or does anyone think it could be a general problem (not just his size)?

Thanks x

I do use lube, thanks.

And not my first time (amazingly that was fine for me... maybe why it hurts now!)

Why would children be in the 'women's health' section?!

Could be his size but more than likely you are not turned on enough as you say it hurts in the beginning and just after. he puts it in and hurts you then you grt more aroused and lubricate more so it stops hurting then he finishes and the pain comes back

With you saying he is large, I would venture to say it has to do with his size, nothing wrong with you. The vaginal opening should stretch to accommodate is girth, but not with out a little pain or possible bleeding. He maybe causing a little tearing at the vaginal opening and that is why you are bleeding a little. Make sure you are well lubricated and ask him to penetrate slowly, usually it is just getting past the head of the penis that is the most uncomfortable, by him going in slowly allows for your vaginal opening to stretch a little at a time. Trying another position for the initial penetration may help as well. If the vaginal opening is not well lubricated this causes friction and can cause more pain than normal, try a little extra lubrication. I hope this helps.

How long have you two been having sex? If not long, it will take a while for your body to get used to his size. I had the same problem with my boy friend when we first started having sex 11 years ago. We had to take it slow and easy every time he put it in then things loosened up and we could do it harder. He just got back from Iraq in April and it's like we had to start all over again getting my body used to him.

If your first intercourse was painful you might be tightening involuntarily due to the anxiety of the first time. That is not easy to resolve. But given time, and if your boyfriend is gentle and you use lubricant, your vagina should stretch.

Also, if you have children, you will definitely stretch from that. (but you really want to resolve this first! It's not easy to go through a pregnancy with a fear of penetration or the pelvic exams you have to go through)

This happens to me alot when I am impaling my girlfriend. I'm very large and she says it hurts her. I use astroglide, the cream. It works great. I also use magnum condoms. I apply the lube several times in a lovemaking session to keep my member from bringing her to tears. That's the best I can tell you.

Hope that helps!

You should definitely see your gyn. to rule out causes like cervical infection. Sometimes cervix is inflamed and can bleed from infection and sex combo. But it is not like the pain of stretching. It would be sharp and sore feeling when he penetrates and presses against your cervix.

You are not alone I have this problem too. The best thing you can do is lubricate, and let your partner know that you are having discomfort and to take it easy for a minute or two. Then it will be great. :)

Well its quite natural that some females get easily bleed during intercourse due to lack of lubrication(it not a virgin)..Well use some water based lubricants and try it.

It really could be size- of him, and you. Make sure you are using enough lubrication, and often. Also, try different positions that could open you up more. (I can't believe I'm typing this)

It could be his size. I had that problem before. I ended up getting with someone that was smaller and it doesnt do that anymore. Just from my experience lol.
