Yes I do remember my first day of Kindergarten. I was soooo scared and wouldn't let go of my Mother's hand. I cried when she left me (positive in my 4 year old mind, that she was never coming back for me). Kindergarten back then (I'm 45 years old now) was only half day - half of the class went from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and the other half went from 12:00 noon - 2:30 p.m.

For the first 4 1/2 months of school I went from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and then we switched, so for the rest of the school year I went from 12:00 noon - 2:30 p.m. My teacher's name was Miss Scott and after I completed Kindergarten, I again cried because I didn't want to go onto First Grade because I loved Miss Scott.

Side Note: There were four of us little girls in Kindergarten who sat together and liked each other. I'm proud to say that to this day (41 years later) we are still close, having been in each other's weddings, at births, watching children grow up, etc. Not many people can say that they still have active friends from Kindergarten.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

I still remember what I did on the first day at the elementary school. The teacher was lining up all the kids outside of the class room so she could assign seats based on the height (shorter kids sit in the front). But she kept ignoring me & wouldn't put me in the line until she's done with everyone, so I got mad & went to spank her in the behind. She went to my house & complained to my mom after school.

When I grew older I realized the truth - I was sent to school one year early, the principal agreed to accept me only because my mom kept begging & the teacher was her high school classmate. I was put on a trial basis until I proved my academic capability.

I have a totally different viewpoint than my mom's - my 2 kids are both extremely smart but I didn't want them to jump grade unless they are emotionally matured.

I was so excited to be starting school, and my mom could not get me there fast enough. Right as I was about to walk into the room, I thought, "Oh boy, here we go!" When I saw that class had already started -- the teacher was already reading a book to the other kids -- I was devastated. How could they start without me?! I was so mad at my mom for not getting me there on time, and ever since then, I have had a pathological need to be early to every appointment, meeting, etc.

Yes. My teachers name was Mrs. Jensen. I remember that my Mom had gotten my hair cut really, really short and all the girls were laughing because I looked like a boy. But then they all shut up when they saw that I had a way cooler backpack then the rest of them.

Yes, I do. My twin brother and my best friend was in the same class as me, which made me feel not as scared and I remember the teacher, and some of the other kids....it was so strange...I remember the lunch room in particular, it was so noisy..

vaguely. I remember us all filing into the hall. David, who was at the front of the line, looks into the classroom, and said, "This isn't our classroom," and keeps walking past. Everyone else followed him; he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

The teachers and the aides had to run and catch up, and direct us back to the room David insisted wasn't ours.
