Alcohol reduced inhibitions which are what keep you from doing things when you are sober. I have found that it only really AMPLIFIES what is already there..

I mean I have a mean streak and even though it is only a VERY small part of me when I am sober it CAN come out when I am drunk given the right set of conditions... My ability or desire to keep it in check is reduced...

I know this ahead of time so that keeps me from getting in fights anymore but I used to fight like crazy when I would get drunk even though I am a REALLY sweet person most of the time....

So the answer to your question is no. I do not think it makes you do things you do not WANT to do when you are sober. HOWEVER if you secretly want to when you are sober... ABSOLUTELY..

They so say "a drunk man's words are a sober man's dreams" for a reason...

I think Alcohol makes you think things are a better idea than you do when you are sober. IE: Calling your ex to say hi at 2:30am. Sober: Bad Idea. Drunk: Good idea

Alcohol doesn't "make" you do anything. What it *does* do is reduce your inhibitions so that you are less able to restrain yourself from doing things you would perhaps *not* do when you are sober. Unfortunately for many folks, some purposely drink heavily so that they can have some excuse for the stupid and/or dangerous things they plan to do.

It's an excuse, plain and simple. The alcohol makes it easier to do or say the things we restain ourselves from doing while sober, but the fact is, we still know what we're doing and have the ability to stop. Excuses.

No.
People use alcohol as an excuse to do things they really want to do, but are afraid/ashamed to do when their sober.

Before I sobered up, yes. May be time to go to AA if you are having this problem.

it actually sort of doesnt like youll want to do something but in a different way i think the alcohol makes you just be stupid and just settle for whatever even if its not what u want cuz youre not exactly thinking straight

Alcohol doesn't make you do anything, it only lowers your inhibitions allowing YOU to chose to do those stupid things. I've been drunk several times and do not recall a time that I did not have full control of my decision making allowing myself not to be found dancing naked on a bar table, etc.

i mos definetely agree with barett g. people use alcohol as an excuse to do things they want to do but are afraid/ashamed to do when they are sober. they figure they will be forgiven for their actions because they were "intoxicated"

I don't think it does. I think people just use their drunkenness as an excuse to do things they secretly want to do, but aren't brave enough to do when they're sober.
