A great book is "What to Expect the First Year"
Parents.com should be helpful too.

My baby was able to hold her head up and roll over at 4 months. She could sit w/o help at about 6 or 7.

Some babies can hold their heads up from the time they are born.
Some do not do it until 3 months. 4 month is late and the doctor SHOULD recommend exercises (because most likely if the baby isn't holding their head up it is because mom is leaving them in a seat all day).

Rolling over can be from two - seven months depending on whether you mean one way or both ways. Most babies do one and then not the other for a long time. Mine could go from back to belly, but not belly to back. Which was horrible because he HATED being on his belly *sigh*

Baby head control is around two -three months, the start to sit up unassisted around 6 months, holding things and swiching hads anywhere from 4-6 months. All babies are different and do things at different times some don't even do things the books tell you they should be doing!!

My son was holding his head up at about 2 months. He could sit up by himself at 4 1/2 to 5 months. He started crawling at 6 1/2 months and was walking at 9 months. All babies are different. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any concerns, b/c *if* anything is wrong, they can go ahead and get the baby in therapy to help him/her learn to do the things they are supposed to be doing.

Mine had head control at about 2 months and now he will be 5 months on Thanksgiving he can sit up unsupported. But I have practiced with him for a month. Why that is, is because he loves to sit up so I spent so much time practicing with him and now he sits up and plays on the ground. He loves it.

About 3 to 4 months they should have a good control with minimum head butting for you. Try putting him or her in a swing that keeps him sitting up,put a pillow in front of him and keep a watchful eye on him or her. Also put your child on his or hers tummy, this also helps with neck control they will try to lift there head up to see whats near them. Good Luck.
