Believing in destiny helps explain why things turn out the way they do (for the wrong or right) or not taking into our hands our will of doing things and achieving our goals.

if you say it was my destiny that something happen may be it can give you courgae in a way to accpet life's hard reality and unhappy events. thus you let yourself flow with life's current (which might be good or not depending on what your dreams are)

Some people believe in "D"estiny, while others choose to believe in God. (ok, some people choose to believe in "N"othing, and those are atheists/agnostics, but not a large portion of the population)

The fact that most people invoke either "D"estiny or God leads me to believe more than ever that human beings are born with a yearning to put a kind of order and meaning to their lives where, to the naked eye, there is none. It is in our genetic material to believe in a higher power; that belief has been a part of our species since the Stone Age and always will be. That's why, when I hear some folks say "religion should be banned" and "religion is the source of all evil in the world" it makes me laugh. Religion will NEVER go away; it's a very building block of the human condition.

The obvious answer is "why not". People need something to
believe in, so why not destiny. And too, it removes the need to make
the really difficult decisions in life.

Our Destiny is to develope or destroy. The human race are only tools. If we do good evolution advances, if we do bad, evolution on this earth ends that means everything dies and something or someone starts from scratch.

People like to believe there is a pre-dispositioned plan out there for them, to make them feel a little less lost. You know? I suppose people find it comforting to know that there is something more out there for them. It might tie into spirituality a little bit in the sense that it gives people faith, and makes them believe there is some sort of higher power deciding where life will bring them.

What else is ther eto believe in? How else could we explain teh trials, tribulations, and mistakes we make in life? Destiny is a way to explain away what we don't understand about our lives.
