Last summer and this summer I came across some "bees" that looks just like a yellow jacket.....black/yellow stripes..only these things are almost like 2 inches in size!!! unbelieveable!!! My husband says they are Ciciadia Killer Bees. They have "holes" nest all over the ground. I lived at my home for almost 10 years ...and for the last 2 summers, These things are here in my yard. Also, can someone tell me the best way to kill them and their nest in the ground? (I am highly allergic to any bee stings... just gotta get rid of them for safety reasons.). thanks.

Yes they sound like "cicada killers", actually wasps, not bees. The nest can be eliminated pretty easily with a commercial spray, but it would be best to let professionals handle it, especially if you are allergic.

they are Ciciadias OR Locusts.
If they are, they look like giant black grasshoppers that fly.
They might bite but they aren't "killer" and you won't get an allergic reaction.
They're just an annoyance.
We'd get them every 13 years. I think I was in the 8th or 9th grade when I first learned about them and saw them. They would cover the trees and the yard and make deafening noises. If you used a riding mower to mow your yard, you better carry a badmitton racket to whack 'em as they jumped towards the mower. Not sure how to kill them once in the ground but we'd collect them, put them in a coffee can, put the lid on it and then shake the can or play catch with the can. They'd eventually die within a couple of weeks.

They are almost surely cicada killer wasps, which
are not at all aggressive toward humans. If you
don't bother them you are extremely unlikely to be
stung. They are not the 13 year cicadas (often
also incorrectly called locusts) mentioned by another person. In fact the cicadas are the prey
they stock in the nest as food for their young.

calm down and loosen up! it particularly is maximum likley now not something yet once you want peace of techniques then close your homestead windows, lock the door and turn all the lights fixtures on. If there's a helicopter there then the floor police would be there someplace aswell and if any criminal is there they wont get far. Dont worry

some people call them 'hill bees.' they kill other insects, which might be a good thing but i agree, they won't bother you; better to let them do their job out there.
