It has nothing to do with them being virgins, they aren't all virgins, Lux isn't. The book and movie is called 'the virgin suicides' because of a song that the boys listened to that reminded them of the girls that went by the same name. This is explained in the book but not in the movie.
There is no exact reason given as to why the girls killed themselves, there isn't meant to be. We're meant to feel the same frustration that the boys do in trying to understand why they did it. It could be because they're cooped up for so long, it could be revenge towards their mother. In the book it's hinted that it's because the girls can't accept the flaws of the world, they don't want to live in a inperfect world.

Try reading the book, it gives you a lot more insight into the girls' state of mind. From what I could tell it was mainly depression from their parent's restrictivness.

In my opinion, with the first girl it was because she couldn't deal with the strictures and isolation forced on herself and her sisters by her mothers. They all had an unhealthily symbiotic relationship with one another because they weren't allowed social interaction.
