Check with your local social services agencies for volunteering opportunities. You may also want to check your local homeless shelters as well. I can assure there are plenty of opportunities out there for those like you that would like to do something meaningful for the holidays.

Check the local health department. That's where I found a volunteering opportunity in my home town.
