For about a week now it seems so much harder to bend over to pick things up, and throughout my whole pregnancy my pants fit right under my stomach and would even fall off my hips (now they are tight) on top of it all it hurts in my "area's" and when I walk i look like a sumo wrestler. Has his head engaged?

The head is engaged when it no longer "floats" in the pelvis. Your doctor or midwife can check for this.
It sounds like your baby's head is well on its way if not already engaged. This is especially true if you are a bigger boned Mamma like myself. I was told I have those "child bearin' hips", LOL, which give alot of room for the baby's head to sink into the pelvis, thus engaging easily.

I'm 35 weeks and 5 days and I'm experiencing the same things you have mentioned. My baby dropped about 2 weeks ago, and since then I've been having really sharp pains in my vagina, and sometimes it feels like he's going to push his way out! I can barely bend over to pick things up (Can't tie my shoes without sitting down) and I can't cross my legs anymore! Oh and I waddle too! My fiance said I look like a penguin, haha!
Your baby has most likely dropped. Does it seem like you can breathe a little easier? I carried my baby really high, so I could actually look in a mirror and it looks lower. The only way you can tell if the baby's head is actually "engaged" though is from an exam by your doctor. They will probably check this at an upcoming appointment.
Good luck and congratulations! Your almost there!! :)

This indicates the baby has "dropped", but that does not necessarily mean the baby's head has "engaged". Only an exam by your OBGYN can confirm whether or not the baby's head has engaged. Also, this was not asked, but as a Mother who had a baby whose head did not engage, I thought I would share this with you: If the baby's head has not engaged, and you're far along in your pregnancy (38 wks +), your water-breaking experience might be somewhat "shocking". In other words...it could be comparable to Niagra Falls (kidding...but you get the drift). This is because of the space between the baby's head and your cervix, which once the water has broken, allows a lot of water to exit. My recommendation is that you have an old bathrobe handy, at work, or in your car, or at home, as well as several good sized towels in case this happens. You will need them. :)

He may be in place for birth. How far a long are you? I would call my ob they might want to see you because the baby has seven stations +3, +2, +1, 0, -1, -2, -3 this when the babyu enters the birth canal. Ina perfect situation before labor begins the baby stays at +3 but your baby may ahve already dropped below that line. Good Luck!!!!

I felt like everything was just going to drop out all of a sudden and there was a lot of pressure on my pelvis.
