I don't care if Doogie Howser is gay or not. Shouldn't the question be Is Doogie Howser a nice guy? Am I the only one who thinks that if someone chooses to share their sexual preference great if not why should anyone else care??

Actually, I do care that Neil Patrick Harris is gay. I also care that T.R. Knight is gay, that Lance Bass is gay, that Jane Lynch is gay, Tom Hulce is gay, Victor Garber, Earl Holliman, Richard Chamberlin, Tab Hunter, George Takei, Ellen, Rosie, Martina, k.d., Melissa, Elton.........etc, etc. When a celebrity "comes out" it impacts society at large and helps us move just the smallest bit closer to acceptance. This is no small thing and I am certainly appreciative of "Doogie" and the others named above who have chosen to make themselves known.

I think it's important to come out because right now you have guys hiding in the closet. You have people with misconceptions of what being gay is. I wish it wasn't a big issue being gay but it is. And when someone in the public eye comes out, they really don't know who they are helping.

Well it isnt that he is gay & came out its because he is a celebrity, the public will be more into the subject if the person is well known rather than your everyday joe.
If he wasnt a celebrity, it would only effect the people he is surrounded by.

But a lot of people are just so uncomfortable with their own sexuality they have to focus on everyone elses.
