Every time I try and close out anything on the net, "not responding" appears at the top of the page, and everything freezes up. What is the problem and how do I fix it? Thanx in advance.

If your're using internet explorer switch to "Mozilla Firefox"

You might have some spyware or malware on your computer. Run some scans with Spyware Terminator or Ad-aware. ALso scan for viruses and run your Windows update. Upgrade your browser to IE7.

If your using Internet Explorer I suggest you try firefox.

go to microsoft.com check your comp for updates , and install them , thats what you need
probably Xp service package 2 is not installed yet in your computer
