I'm sure many people will say M*A*S*H, as it was mine, but would like to hear what other of his movies people enjoyed.

I'm torn between Brewster McCloud and McCabe and Mrs. Miller, but I think I'll go with McCabe and Mrs. Miller.

Did you know he directed several episodes of Bonanza, several of Combat, and one of Route 66? No wonder those shows were so beloved. We'll miss him.

How about 'Dr T and the Women'? 'Popeye'? Honestly, I dont see the big deal of this guy; there are far too many other better directors alive and dead; people have to go back 30 fricken years to name a 'great' film of his. Also, I enjoyed how people like Roger Ebert predicted that Altman might say something controversial on accepting his lifetime achievement Oscar; he didnt- it was the usual fluff speech. Sorry.

I like Cookie's Fortune. Also The Player and Shortcuts. My husband loves Nashville. Altman was one of the best, right up there with Kubrick in my mind.

Altman's best obscure movie--O.C. and Stiggs. Watch it.

The Player - the opening scene is over 5 minutes in length and is an uncut continuous shot. I can't think of another director that accomplished this.
