It terms of readable. I'm reading Scarlet Letter, and i find the language Hawthornes uses to be too complex. I'm constantly going back a couple sentences to understand the main gist of his paragraphs. It's probably because his dang sentences contain so many words and commas. Plus, his words don't make it better.

Wuthering Heights...avoid Scarlet Letter like the plague

Difficult to say. Read both. Liked both.
But Wuthering Heights is more romantic and has more captivating plot.
Scarlet letter is more dramatic and more socially important
As for language I agree that N. Hawthorne is complex but E. Bronte isn't easier

"Wuthering Heights". I've read it more than once and I've never been able to get through "The Scarlet Letter". I once had a copy in my office drawer (left by my predecessor, which must have some significance) and when I opened the drawer for something a visitor spotted it. He told me that whenever he had seen a book in a drawer, it had been "The Scarlet Letter". It's a book meant to be left in drawers by people who can't work their way through it.

Easy is over-rated. I think The Scarlet Letter was a better story.

They are both hard to wade through, but worth the reading. In my opinion, The Scarlet Letter is easier of the two to read. Once you get the hang of the lingo you are over the hump of understanding it.

They are nearly the same. I read both of them. They are both good & long novels. But Wuthering Heights is more interesting to such extent that you will feel it shorter!!!
