How can they NOT get Peter Jackson to direct The Hobbit after the amazing work he did for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Are they mad? who else could match up to him? no one!

i was shocked when i saw it in the papers !! ... of coarse it should be jackson directing the film .. he did an amazing job in the trilogy so he's the only one that can do the hobbit perfectly !

They just don't want their records for the income from Fellowship of the Ring to be scrutinized. New Line was trying to hold Wing Nut Films over a barrel, by saying if only Peter would settle the case, then he would get to direct the movie he has always wanted to do.
it just sucks that the studio can't do the right thing, especially when you realize that LOTR was hugely successful and any prequel was guaranteed success.

Peter Jackson is the only one who could film such an epic of this and be true to the characters as he did the other 3 brilliantly. I think the hobbit will flop if not done to the standard the LOTR's were.

Though Helena Bonham Carter would make quite a good Hobbit, all that hair and round rosy cheeks. The testicle on legs Bob Hoskins would do rather a good Bilbo.

Is that true that idiot Tim Burton is doing the Hobbit?
God, I hate that guy. He totally ruined Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory for me.
He would have gotten away with ruining Batman for me too, but luckily Batman Begins with Christian Bale redeemed the franchise in my eyes.

hmm this is true.maybe they thought the hobbit would look too similar to the LOTR triology. Hollywood works in strange ways.
Tim Burton doing it now that would be interesting to see

the reason is because he has file a lawsuit against the company and have not settled it. This was over money and profits from the films the film company have not officially commented but it seems pretty obvious that this is the reason.

Karl B; that would be my biggest problem with it. Johnny Depp isn't suited to absolutely everything unlike Burton thinks. And he'll probably have Helena Bonham Carter playing Gandalf too.
