Pedestrians should wear helmets and body armour!!
The cyclist should also have insurance, because last summer, just walking to the car with my daughter!! I ended up on the pavement with a gash the size of a palm on my leg because a cyclists knocked myself and daughter over whilst walking on the pavement. He was very upset with me when I asked him if he had insurance considering he had knocked me over and injured me. It could have been worse if I had not stopped the fall my head would have been on the pavement.
All of this because a big man could not be bothered to use the road. Sorry does not take away the scar on my leg!!
I do not have a problem with kids on the pavement, as a car driver, it is far too dangerous for the children on the public highway.

I am a cyclist and I wear a helmet. If you have a brain and you don't want to wind up drinking your lunch from a feeding tube and acting like you have palsey for the rest of you short life you wear a helmet. The rule on any thing with two wheels is it's not if your going down it's when.
Unfortunately there are gubers out there impersinating cyclists who ride thier three dollar bikes on the side walk. These idiots have hit me while I was walking.
Here is the deal Cyclist have road rules. We call ourselves roadies because we ride on the road. The others riders who ride mountain bikes a big majority often do not practice the rules of the road. They violate them.
Here are some of the rules.
1 Always ride on the right of the road except when passing. Never ride on the sidewalk unless there is a designated bike trail or you are getting off the bike like at a coffe shop. Then you ride 5 miles an hour.
2 When passing you will hear roadies call out "On your Left!" This means step to the right and we will pass.
3 Never wear headphones and listen to music.. If you can't hear you will hit someone or get hit by something like a train or a peloton. or hit a pedestrian. Only gubers do this. You wan't to wear headphones ride on a trainer at home.
4 Always wear a helmet.
5 You may notice we do not stop at stop signs but we stop at red lights. At Stop signs we look then we call back to the other riders behind us "Clear!" Or Stop! We use hand signals. It is not practicle to Stop because of the speed and the fact we wear cleats. Like ski bindings we can't be constently getting in an out.
6 Point out debris on the road to riders behind us.Debris causes terrible crashes. Glass thrown by drunks from cars rocks and pieces of cars that fall off. Pot holes and ruts dead animals are all on the side of the road.
7 Peloton is a group of riders who ride in single file or in double file. They draft so it makes it easy as a group to ride at faster speeds. The lead rider is replaced every minute or so depending on his stamina. The lead rider calls all the calls out so the group does not crash.
8 Watch out for parked cars. Doors open riders get hurt.
As you can see there are many hazzards in road riding and most of the time we deal with cars and trucks. When we ride on a bike trail we deal with pedestrians who often wear headphones and pay no attention to their surroundings. I have had some of these people do an ubrupt turn around in some kind of crazy walking style.
Many times it is the pedestrian that causes the crash.
But many Mountain Bikers are rude and have no ediquet in road rules. They ride like they do on dirt trails. If they paid attention to some of the road rules pedestrians and hikers would be safer.

"Head injuries reason 3-quarters of approximately 900 bicycle deaths each and each twelve months, in accordance to the Bicycle Helmet safety Institute, a helmet advocacy software of the Washington, D.C.-section Bicyclist association." - even if, it would not say if the human beings in touch in those injuries have been donning helmets or no longer - and that i've got self belief it extremely is for u . s . of america, no longer England. even if, the discrepancy between 38% and seventy 5% seems plenty.

I don't see anything wrong with wearing a helmet, but I think pedestrians should wear body armor.
If it doesn't make them safer, it will surely slow them down and they'll lose weight too.

I dont agree with them, they look stupid, feel uncomfortable, dont offer much protection and leed people especially kids to have an inflated sense of their safty causing them to take risks inviting accidents
