is it legal to let one of my friends download a CD? i was thinking since the band doesnt get any $ it is.

If you don't own the copyrights or have permission, its illegal to make copies of a cd, distribute or be in possession of illegal copies of a cd, download a cd, make a cd available to download, lend or rent out a cd or play a cd in public.

It's called, i think, the fair use act. And you can copy your CD to make a backup for yourself for if your origional breaks. But distributing it is not ok.

yea if u ur frend doesnt pay for it, its obvious that the bands do not earn any money...therefore its illegal!

If you pay for the songs, yes it is legal, if you get them for free illegal, BUT...being illegal is so much fun! ;)
