YES,MAMMOGRAMS ARE SAFE FOR WOMEN IN GENERAL,UNLESS YOU ARE PREGNANT AND THEY WILL TALK TO YOU ABOUT THAT BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.WOMEN OF ALL AGES ARE GETTING BREAST CANCER IT IS NO LONGER A DISEASE THAT IS FOUND IN ONLY OLDER WOMEN, MY SISTER WAS ONLY 38, AND DEVELOPED BREAST CANCER,MY MOTHER IN LAW WAS 71,AND DEVELOPED BREAST CANCER,WHEN I WENT IN FOR A ROUTINE MAMMOGRAM THERE WAS A YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICAN GIRL THAT WAS ONLY 28 YEARS OLD THAT HAD TO HAVE A MASECTOMY SCHEDULED BECAUSE SHE HAD NO IDEA THAT SHE HAD BREAST CANCER AND IT WAS TO FAR PROGRESSED AND SHE NEEDED EMERGENCY MEDICAL ATTENTION RIGHT AWAY, WHETHER YOU ARE BLACK, WHITE,HISPANIC ETC. THIS TYPE OF RADIATION WILL NOT HURT,IF YOU ARE CONCERNED YOU NEED TO SPEAK TO YOUR DOCTOR, THERE ARE NO RACIAL BOUNDARIES WHEN IT COMES TO GETTING A MAMMOGRAM IT'S A MUST FOR ANY WOMAN, IT'S ALSO A GOOD WAY OF DETECTING CANCER AT AN EARLY STAGE AND THAT IS A GOOD THING, BECAUSE YOU HAVE MORE OF A FIGHTING CHANCE.

The amount of radiation is not dangerous, and cannot cause major damage unless you have it done every day. Once a year will not do any damage, regardless of race. There are exceptions- if your immune system is compromised, but doctors always ask if you have preexisting condition.
There is radiation in any normal environment, and a mammogram does expose you to more radiation, but the benefits outweigh the costs.
Undetected cancer can kill you, and chemo is much more invasive.

the small amount of radiation exposure you get during a mammogram (you get more doing dental x-rays) is not harmful. Neglecting a mammogram and missing an early cancer detection can be deadly.

If you're a woman mammograms are safe and encouraged.
There is nothing a black woman cannot do that other woman can do.
I don't understand what would be the problem.

1 in 8 women get breast cancer, the small amount of radiation is a very very minute risk versus the benefit of possibly detecting breast cancer early
