I have grown an avocado plant from seed, it is now about 18" tall, but all of a sudden the leaves seem to be dying. Could it be the temperature change? What are the optimal growing conditions for an avocado?

The avocado is only good in large numbers. Sorry this is
the most socialized orchard tree. Because it is solitary so
far, I would go to the greenhouse club in your area. Look for
one that has budding plants. The proper partners in the usual
are lemon, and possibly papaya. If you must, try a lemon
seed with it for a partner. The trade in will be kept for you.
You will get to help with it, avocado is in demand for ornament
trees in some really nice garden club greenhouses.

Lift the pot. Light = dry, aerate and water. Heavy = wet, allow to dry out. They like a sunny south window -- Miracle grow 1/4 tsp to gal water ok to use on all plants at every watering.

Avacados are male and female. If you want fruit, you must learn the sex of your plant and get an opposite for it. Takes about 7 years for them to bear.

good luck

My dad grows avocados for a living in mexico I guess it would have to be hot and ive noticed that they do like shade and not to much sun.
