What, in your opinion, is the best nonfiction history of the Meiji Restoration period in Japan?

Any kind of history: martial, religious, cultural, artistic or technological histories interest me, although I'm open to anything that you might suggest if you pitch it to me in the right way!

I suppose the most interesting aspect of it (for me) is the gigantic change process: How they planned it and what they did to pull it off. What were the correct decisions and what were the wrong ones? And how it can be compared with african countries, for example.
