I don't know if my job "defines" me, but it is very important to me. It is part of who I am. Anything that I spent so much time at would have to be. I do not put my job over my family, but I love what I do and enjoy getting up every morning. I devote alot of time to research and conventions because I want to get better at my job. That is why my job is IMPORTANT to me, but I wouldn't call feeling that your job is important or enjoyable, being defined.

Hey Fred,
At meetings when I give introductions, in the past, I would say I am into fishing, camping, etc other things. People do not care, they have a job to do, and want to get it done. Small talk happens on the job, and it is those things in our life that are not work that define us. But some people are so powerful on the job, and not any place else, they let that rule who they are.
Not all people allow their job to define them. But there are those that do. I think it is because of their Focus on what they do there, and how well, and with what authority. Funny, life is not about what you do for work.

We spend a lot of time working. I hope most people choose a job that they like and that suits their interests. If it is so job certainly defines them.
My job defines me of course. It shows my interests, my money, people I communicate with, sometimes my desires and even passions.
Sometimes job defines us more than any other thing

I don't. My job is merely that -a job. It doesn't define who I am and what I stand for, it just a means of making a living. I would never pick a "job" to define myself because it's something that must be done, such as a task or chore as opposed to "Me" which is natural and done without work or effort.. If that makes sense to you.

Sometimes people are already defined before they even take the job. The job is their calling. Society is better for these teachers, doctors, nurses, ministers, etc. who are doing what they were called to do.

some people choose to define themselves by their jobs.
usually because the job is the most important role in their life.
or they think it gives them social status.
or they always wanted to be something and now they are.
it is rampant. it is ok.

I never did, nor will.
A man might loose it (job) anyday in these days, especially in Finland.
