Take it easy my friend , This is not a majour problem or a defect in your skils , and if it realy is be sure that no one is perfect and what you see in people is never what you in realty might get ! now if you want to improve your speaking skils or in a proffesional term : communication skils there are a lot of courese that help you develope such a skils , especialy those for marketing on line . until you get to one of these course I suggset that you write down the points that you are conveying in your phone call , presumbly you are not going to ask your colleague about what his wife looked like in thier wedding . so after you write the points try to be firm in your language , do not allow the conversation to go astray . and good luck

maybe you talk too fast or you don't enunciate your words?

try recording your own voice and listening to the tape. we are not usually "aware" of how we speak, so listening to our own voice tapes can help us realize what we may be doing wrong.

also, try to be more observant at your workplace and get a feel of how the people there talk when conducting business. maybe you're using words they are not familiar with?

just slow down and try to pronoun everything clearly, be polite-ask people how they are and repeat their first name in conversation, if you dont understand something have them repeat it to you, good luck
