That is a question for the people of Puerto Rico to decide for themselves. That question has been put to them at least three times in the past and each time, the people have voted to remain a territory. I don't see that anything has changed sufficiently to make any difference today if the question were presented again.

A former co worker of mine was from Puerto Rico and he said they like it as it is, they get all the benefits of being a state without paying taxes. Also they have voted on this numerous times and it is always split down the middle. They do not have representation in Congress. I dont know why anyone would live like that.Um and last spring they went broke and shut down public offices and schools for a few weeks I think.
Also home to the largest satellite dish.

Whats sad is that they benefit from all US government services but DO NOT pay any income tax. I think we need to either set them free to be their own country, which would not work because their economy would collapse. Or, we should make them a state and require them to pay federal tax like the rest of us. Now, they would revolt against that because why would you buy the cow if your getting the milk for free.

it should be a state so that they can pay their fair share of taxes just like the rest of us for USA government funds they receive every year like food stamp for their poor .
