It's time to upgrade. New PCs don't cost a whole lot and there will be great Christmas sales where you can get a well-equipped one without spending a fortune. Think about how you will get your files to the new machine. Your old one probably doesn't support USB and a new one may not have a 3 1/4 inch disk drive.

Check the specifications of your computer. How much memory does it have, how fast is the processor, and how big is the hard drive.

If you have 256MB of memory or more
and you have a 300 Mhz process or better
and you have a 20 Gig Hard drive or larger
then you can (and should) update to Windows XP

You will need to purchase a copy of Windows XP
Back up any files (pictures, music, vids, etc) that you want to keep to CDs, DVDs or another hard drive
Put the CD into your CD drive and boot the computer for it
Should start the Windows Install
Just let it run from there
Once done, you can copy your files back and reinstall any additional software you want onto the computer.
