i have got a virus in my internet explorer 6.0; and it does not allow me to browse any other site than its own site that suggests me to download some spyware software... so i was thinking of uninstalling the current version of the internet explorer and then download it again... is it possible..; if, then how do i do it..?

I believe you CAN do it, but I don't think it is recommended way to get rid of a hijacker. Just download some good spyware removal tool like Ad-Aware, or SpybotSD, and then a good antivirus like AVG.
See if that helps. Also try installing IE7, or use Mozilla Firefox - both are waaaaay more secure than IE6!

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no such problems/virus. The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at

Adaware a free program by Lavasoft checks for hijacked browsers.
