I doubt this will happen. Thanksgiving usually "kicks off" the Christmas celebrations. It's done in November to commemorate the first Thanksgiving which was also in November.

There are some historical precedents, too. Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt established the holiday to give thanks. I think there would be a lot of resistance to changing a major holiday.

Interesting concept, though.

It would sure be nice if it was in October to match Canadian Thanksgiving. So many of us have friends/relatives living in both countries and it would be great to have same days off!! Christmas music and decorations generally start the day after Hallowe'en - which is HUGE in Canada.

Nah - the whole holiday craziness is a tradition of its own now. We'd lose the unofficial start of the "Christmas season" and the shopping insanity of "Black Friday." Sure, there's a part of me that wishes it coincided with Canadian Thanksgiving, but not enough to seriously consider it.

Besides, it would take an act of Congress. Almost literally.
